These are my new bedroom windows complete with a magnificent sunset. I don't have any curtains yet. Having gone from a tiny leaky flat in Darlington to a whole house share here in Newcastle, the space (and the company) is a welcome addition to my life.
The house has an unusual round hobbit-like entrance with stained glass. The hallway is panelled with wood from floor to ceiling, right up the staircase to my room. This gives it an arts and crafts feel, with the calming effect of a chapel from the second you walk in.
I imagine it was built with some connection to our next door neighbours. St Gabriel's Church is a Gothic building with the tallest tower in Heaton. Some nights you can hear the organist practising and I watch bats swoop up into the bell tower, black sounding against black, sounding heartbreak.
